La Mistinguette STUDIOS is a place for the passionate.
For those that are so passionate, they take risks, take chances, leaps of faith, in their skills, in their craft, in their PASSION, to share it with others.
Examples of passion can even be found in the salon furniture.
Antique barber chairs were the very first purchase for La Mistinguette in 2013.
The man they were purchased from, was undoubtedly passionate about barber chairs. He filled his home, his backyard and garage, with barber chairs, and barber chair pieces. He explained the obsession as a nostalgia for his first jobs working in barber shops as a young man.
One by one, he brought barber chairs back to life, adding missing pieces and reupholstering them. He even chromed some, which were incredible.
His drive to acquire, accumulate and organize barber chair pieces, and his ability to restore these chairs was so inspiring and impressive.
A couple beat up hairs were chose and he went to work.
He found all the missing pieces, made sure all the functions worked, and reupholstered to color of choice; dark cherry, burgundy red.
I knew I wanted a barber chair for the salon despite it not being the typical concept or aesthetic of a barber shop.
Aside from the super cool look of these chairs, it was their versatility that to me, made them the best fit.
I could do makeup applications, eyebrow shaping, haircuts, hair-color, even a mini facial, all from one chair.
Being a witness and experiencing this mans passion, felt like just the beginning, a spark of passion for the place those who are passionate will also call theirs.
Today, not only is La Mistinguette full of talented, creative and gifted professionals, but this barber particular chair is used by three different professionals as they build their business and share their passions; an eyebrow shaping artist, an eyelash extensionist and a reiki therapist.
